Historical Richmond Town Bounday Walk
29 August 2018 - 10:05, by Paul Goad, Seaton Spring
Seaton Spring Water were honoured to be part of the 63rd historical Richmond boundary walk. Around 600 people attended the walk led by the Pinder, Jeff Edmondson. among them were the town council mayor, Jonathan Preece and town crier Barry Heap.
The custom dates back to the Royal Charter given to the town by Elizabeth I in 1576 and is also confirmed under the Charter of Charles II 1668 that the Mayor, as Lord of the Manor, accompanied by his Councillors, Officers and townspeople should beat the bounds of the town every seven years. The boundary of the town therefore plays host to a fourteen mile route where refreshment stations were set up and manned by Seaton Spring Water and personnel from REME and 5 Armoured Medical Regiment. The day was well attended and walkers were kept hydrated with copious amounts of Seaton Spring’s English rock filtered water drawn from our own 420 foot well which penetrates deep into the limestone aquifer which runs along the eastern side of our region.
